Freedom is an independent, evangelical, non-profit
organization dedicated to reaching those locked behind steel doors in jails and prisons all across
Ohio, those trapped in homelessness on the streets of Cleveland, those
abandoned in nursing homes all across Northeast Ohio, and those shackled in
addictions with the message of True Freedom that is found only in Jesus Christ.
True Freedom Reaches over 40,000 in 2014
Through the grace of God, True
Freedom experienced exponential growth in 2014, touching over 40,000 lives with
the gospel of Jesus Christ!
The prison ministry was
blessed to expand in several new directions.
Throughout the year True Freedom entered into negotiations with Cuyahoga
County, to place a full-time chaplain in the Juvenile Justice Center in
Cleveland – free-of-charge to the county, to reach the youth with the gospel. The many hours of ground work paid off, and
in October True Freedom hired a new Chaplain, Brian Lutan, who daily ministers
at the Juvenile Justice Center in Cleveland, touching children as young as 8
years old. Brian joined Rae Borders, who
currently serves as True Freedom’s female chaplain at that facility.
Earlier in the year True
Freedom was approached by officials at the Grafton Correctional Institution and
asked to take over programming for the Faith Dorm at the Grafton Reintegration
Center. We now weekly offer the Alpha
Course, Reformers Unanimous, a Christ-Based Alcoholics Anonymous program, a
mentorship program, worship services and Bible studies at that one facility,
while continuing our weekly programming at Lorain Correctional, Grafton
Correctional, Mansfield Correctional, Richland Correctional, Northeast
Correctional, and the Cleveland Justice Center.
In addition to the new
opportunities, God also blessed us with dozens of new volunteers, with the
result that over 25,000 inmates attended our offerings with nearly 3,000 making
a profession of faith in Jesus Christ!
